Crowns and pjs for the 17 Mai salute

Forgot a couple of important items for the Royals on the last update of this picture, found them though, they had them in boxes under the bed. Crowns now polished and ready for action.

Boats, planes, hot dogs and bagpipes

Astrup Fearnley museum in progress, the wee characters are having their tea but will be around soon...

National Theater in progress too, floating around but will have foundations next week.

The lions are having their hot dogs, this piccie needs the characters and the building has no doors, will be a bit breezy in Parliament just now.

Changed the passengers around and included a wee man playing his pipes, not sure Scottie could sleep through that - sure the baby looks a bit dismayed too.

Another crack at that plane, it's a wee troublesome fellow and have popped Scottie's pic on the tail, just like the real thing, except they don't have dogs ..

Hamish on route - Norwegian plane, or is it a rocket?

First stages of the map page showing Hamish and Scottie on their way over from Edinburgh to Oslo - a few things to add, such as the islands, the rigs, the whales and maybe, Nessie taking a wee trip into the North Sea. Can't decide whether the background should be dark as at night maybe with a few stars or a bright blue sky ... that Scottie has his feet up on the seat and will get into trouble with the Captain if he finds out.

Not sure about the pj's and teddy, but the salute does take place early in the morning before the celebrations for the day start.

Opera house and the band plays on

After a wee discussion with Virginia, I realised that Scottie was facing the wrong way and had his back to the band, well, that wasn't right at all. He's now moved round so he can make sure they are all playing along in the proper manner. The children have arrived from their adventures with the Vikings and are listening in, they still need to be painted but have decided to do that at the end so all the colours run properly. Kirsten has her boots on too, her wee feet were a bit chilly before...

Working on the background for the next page which will show the children arriving at the Opera house looking for Scottie. I'm hoping they will arrive in the viking boat just in time for Kirsten Flagstad to start singing her song as Brunhilda in Wagners opera. Better get the paints out and make it happen else they'll miss the performance.

Rådhuset Oslo, Scottie and the tram

Working away on the next set of pictures and this one is in progress, it features the children at the Rådhuset looking for Scottie, oh wait, he's there... driving the tram with Ibsen, and why not. The skateboard boys are having a grand time on the steps and Sir Nils is perfecting on his skills. More detail to be added along the way on this one.

Vikings on their boat to the Stave church

Decided to change the layout of this one after chatting with Virginia as she suggested to include the Stave church at the Norwegian Folk museum, it was a wee challenge to draw but looks better with the Fram museum in the background. Also changed the music as had included the incorrect notes, so, I had a sing-song to it and works better now. Tra la la la la-la-la..

"Hamish goes to Olso" childrens book first layouts

Text to be added in Norwegian with a short description of picture (i.e."Look at Mr Grieg and those singing Vikings, and what is Mr Amundsen waving to Scottie?")

New text to be added on bottom section of picture. Sir Nils Olav is there checking out the soldiers too, oh look, he has a fish, not a hot dog but the wee soldier seems to be enjoying his.

This page runs opposite the previous picture with the children at the Palace. The text will be in Norwegian on the first section, English on lower section. (The paint is still wet on paper, hence wibbly wobbly background...)

First ideas for the cover, maybe some soldiers and characters along the bottom too, might whizz it up a bit..
